The Lovers - Wedding & Elopement Ceremonies

To the lovers,

First of all, congratulations - I am so glad that you and your partner have found each other.

Whether you’re choosing to have a large wedding with hundreds of guests, planning to elope, or doing anything in between, it would be a pleasure to help you create the ceremony that reflects your love and your unique story.

The ceremony can often be an overlooked part of a wedding, particularly if you are used to registrars that go through a set script and then leave. But this part of the day can be crafted into an experience that you and your guests will never forget.

You can include as many or as few elements as you like into your ceremony including music, readings, and rituals (like jumping the broom, tree planting or ring blessing). There are no rules here, so you can get as creative as you like.

How it works:

  1. Let’s connect

We’ll start with a no-obligation meeting, which is a chance for us to get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit. If you’re local, I can meet at your home or in a cafe / pub, and if you’re living further away this can be done over via video call.

I recommend meeting multiple celebrants, and going with the person you feel most connected to. This is your chance to ask as many questions as you like about the ceremony.

To book in for a chat, fill out the Ceremony Enquiry form at the bottom of this page.

2. finding out more

If you decide to work with me, we’ll arrange a longer meeting to get into the details of what your ceremony could look like.

This is the fun bit! You’ll tell me your love story in more detail, and we’ll discuss all the details of your day.

3. creating the ceremony

I’ll get to work writing your ceremony script, and it’ll go through as many edits as you like before it’s signed off and ready for the day.

I’ll also help you write your vows if you need. During this time, I am available for as many phone calls or e-mails as you may need.

4. Your wedding day

If you are having a dress rehearsal for your wedding, I will happily be there and go through the ceremony with you.

I will arrive early on the day of the wedding to ensure that everything is prepared for your ceremony. I will only book in one ceremony per day, meaning that you don’t have to worry if timings change.

This is also an opportunity for us to do any pre-ceremony rituals, like a short meditation or cleansing the air.

5. Memories to keep

You will receive a presentation copy of your ceremony script to keep forever, with my love and best wishes.

A wedding ceremony conducted by a independent celebrant isn’t legally binding. Most couples do ‘the legal bit’ at a register office beforehand (this can be done very quickly and inexpensively).

If you are getting married in Scotland and would like some help arranging the legal aspect of your wedding, feel free to get in touch. Find out more in the FAQs.
